Nasoak IT Infrastructure & Cloud Lab

A personal Information Technology lab for learning and practicing System Administration, virtualization, networking and DevOps.

About

The nasoak.org domain belongs to the Nasoak IT Infrastructure & Cloud Lab, a privately owned home lab run by a single administrator. It is not a commercial hosting provider and does not sell services to the public. The lab exists to test, document and maintain self-hosted infrastructure in a realistic environment, with a focus on Server Management, automation and Cybersecurity Standards.

This page is the only public content on the domain. Every subdomain points to an administrative interface that is restricted to the owner.

Architecture

The environment is built on a single physical server running Proxmox VE Virtualization. Workloads are separated into virtual machines and containers so that each service can be updated, backed up and restored independently.

Virtualization

Full virtual machines run on the KVM Hypervisor, while lightweight services run as Linux Containers (LXC). This keeps resource usage low and makes it easy to rebuild a service from a known configuration.

Storage

Virtual disks and container volumes are stored on local storage with regular snapshots and scheduled backups, so configuration changes can be rolled back safely.

DNS routing and Reverse Proxy

Public DNS for nasoak.org is managed through Cloudflare. No ports are opened on the home router; inbound traffic reaches the lab only through an outbound encrypted tunnel and a Reverse Proxy, which forwards each hostname to the correct internal service and enforces authentication in front of administrative panels.

Monitoring and Telemetry

Host and container metrics such as CPU, memory, disk usage and uptime are collected as Telemetry and reviewed to plan capacity and spot failures early.

Services

The lab hosts internal tools used only by its administrator:

Documentation

The lab keeps private Cloud Hosting Documentation for every component: installation notes, network diagrams, Network Architecture decisions, reverse proxy rules, backup procedures and recovery checklists. Documenting each change is part of the practice, because a home lab is only useful for learning if its setup can be explained and repeated.

General principles followed in the lab:
